Government’s Policy Endorsed
sqr,—Your sweeping condemnation of the Government’s policy in to-days issue of "The Dominion” will not be palatamc to the great, majority of those of u s who have the well-being of our country at. heart. We look to our Press to help, ami not hinder, a sane and progressive Government iu carrying out the wishes of its people. . , ... i. As one who conics in uoiitiict with <ui classes of the community and has the opportunity of listening to their views on the excellent progress made by the Government. I must register a protest against vour assertion that "the country’s tolerant expectancy is giving place to apprehension ” On the contrary, it has been my experience to meet throughout New Zealand. an atmosphere of cheerfulness and satisfaction. The despondency and unrest of years of mismanagement and misplaced trust has vanished. The knowledge of coming prosperity is lightening the hearts of many, sick of the past Government’s vacillating policy and broken promises. . Of course, a certain section of the community will be apprehensive, one expects that. The decided manner in which the Government has taken control, and ivj determined carrying out of its policy, wt.l naturally be something new and startling to that section of the community which has been reaping the benefits of years of mismanagement.—l am. ete.
