OPERATION AT SEA
Ship’s Steward Collapses By Telegraph.-—Press Association. Auckland, May 15. While crossing the equator a surgical operation was performed on a steward of the Monterey, J. McNamara; by the ship’s doctor, Dr. F. A. Moore. McNamara collapsed suddenly as a result of a gastric ulcer which threatened to cause peritonitis. The sea was very smooth at the time and the patient is expected to be on his feet by the time the vessel reaches Sydney.
