CURE FOR SCIATICA

Successful Treatment PAINLESS AND NOT RISKY London, May 14. The “Sun-Herald” news agency says that sciatica is now curable almost over-night by an inexpensive treatment, according to Dr. Gerald Slot. Addressing the International Congress of Physical Medicine, Dr. Slot said that 23 out of 24 cases were successfully treated at the Royal Waterloo Hospital. The treatment was painless and without risks. The diagnosis includes the use of X-ray, after which the patient is injected with Evipian anaesthetic, and a sterile saline containing 1 per cent, of novocaine. This is followed by manipulation in which the spine is extended and the legs and thighs fully flexed alternatively, the pelvis being fixed while the patient is lying down. Relief follows witliin 24 hours. A few cases required a second injection after an interval of three months before final relief was gained. Dr. Slot was born in Johannesburg, and is a leading authority on rheumatism.
