Breeding Ewes in Demand FEILDING SALE Dominion Special Service. Feilding, May 15. Heavy yariinge of sheep and cattle were forward at the stock sale to-day. 'The feature of the sale was the keen inquiry for breeding ewes and store lambs, which showed a very firm market, especially for ewes in lamb, the market for which is far from satisfied. The fat sheep market showed an easing tendency for ewes and wethers, which were down (id. to 1/- a head. Fat lambs were firm and appreciably above export schedule. The dairy cattle market is still firm, witli good prices offering, though in some eases vendors had exalted notions of value, resulting in some passings. Hugh Burrell and Sons’ Dispersal

Feilding, May 14. The dispersal sale of Southdown sheep on account of Messrs. Hugh Burrell and Sons, Feilding, on AVerlnesday, was attended by buyers drawn from a wide area. Owing to the great reputation held by the flock, keen interest was apparent, and highly satisfactory prices were realised. In all, 565 sheep were offered, and all were sold under tlie hammer.

Top price was brought by a stud ram purchased by Mr. A. Matthews (Canterbury) for 100 guineas, and (he second highest price, 80 guineas, was paid by Mr. E. L. Raynor, Masterton, also for a stud ram. The top price for a ewe was 62. J guineas, which was paid by Mr. James Knight, Feilding, for a 6-th animal. The sale realised a sum considerably in excess of £6OOO, the animals averaging 12 guineas. Bidding was brisk for sheep, and prices were well up to ruling rates at the weekly Carterton sale to-day, when Wright. Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., offered a big yarding.
