The “Manchester Guardian's" Berlin correspondent says that Herr Reinhardt. chief permanent official at the Finance Ministry addressing taxation officers, admitted a Budget deficit and declared that the taxation yiei 1 must be increased by at least £83.000,000. half of which it was hoped to obtain from further improvement in trade, while the other half must he raised by tightening up tax collection. Herr Reinhardt forecast the cuttingdown of expenditure upon all but “really great national tasks.”
