BIRTHDAY PARTY AFTER THE SHOW
jVTISS LILLIAN PERTKA, the attracfive American, leading lady in the J. C. Williamson musical comedy. “Anything Goes,” at His Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne, is now the proud possessor of her own door key, a large gilt affair, handed to her wilib proper ceremony by Mr. Harry Langdon after the show on a recent Saturday night. The audience stayed to watch her cut her 21st birthday cake, after a speech from Mr. Charles Norman, and some of the frontrow stallholders smartly fielded one or two slices cast gracefully over the footlights by Miss' Pertka. As guest of honour at the party on tire s age afterwards, Miss Pertka changed from the frilly dress of pale green lace, which she wears in the final scene, into a white satin frock and a black velvet mandarin jacket, with a wbjte Hower perched dangerously on the top of her amazing hair. Charles Norman and Miriam Lester, and the delightful sailors’ chorus repeated some of their special numbers for the benefit of the supper party which included a number of comedians, who are playing in another show in Melbourne.
