Sir Heaton Rhodes arrived, at Wellington yesterday from the south. Mr. Justice Kennedy, accompanied by Mrs. Kennedy, left for the south last night from Wellington. Dr A. H. Howie, Auckland, left Wellington last night for the south. Dr. Welton Hogg vas, a passenger from Wellington for the South Island last night. Tlie Rev. F. E. Fleury, vicar of Martinborough, bas been appointed vicar of Kiwitea. Mr. J. 11. Boyes has been appointed a member of the Teachers’ Superannuation Board as from April 22. Messrs. K. G. Kearney and H. B. Riggs, directors of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Ltd., have left for Auckland on a short business visit. Mr. H. Temple White gave an organ recital at Napier last evening. He will return to Wellington this after--110011.

The Rev. F. O. Ball, assistant curate at AH Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, has been appointed vicar of Martinborough.

Captain R. C. Hammond, general manager of the Northern Steamship Company, arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. Mr. P. Hockley, New Zealand manager of Gordon and Gotch (Australasia), Ltd., returned to Wellington yesterday morning from the South Island.

Mr. H. P. Griffin, assistant-general manager of the Texas Company (Aust.), Ltd., accompanied by Mrs. Griffin, will leave by the Mariposa fi;pm Auckland to-morrow for a holiday in America. Commander C. D. Arbuthnot, who was senior lieutenant-commander of the cruiser Dunedin in New Zealand in 1932-35, has been appointed to H.M.S, Tamar, depot ship at Hong Kong. Commander Arbuthnot was promoted at the New Year while on special duty with the Mediterranean base defences.
