Addington Sale

By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, March 18. Entries in the store sheep section at the Addington market to-day were the heaviest for a number of years, approximating 30,000 ewes and 0000 lambs. With fat sheep and fat lambs included, the total penning of sheep was approximately 46,500 head. Store lambs: About 9000 were yarded, mostly back-country and unattractive. There was an easing of 1/6 for carryover sorts, but very ordinary ewes sold extremely well, with no easing. Store ewes: The big entry included many old ewes which came back.in value, but best station lines were only slightly easier than at the fairs. Four-yeap ewes made to 27/6, and two-tooth to 31/-. The best of the five-year ewes also sold well.

Fat lambs: 2600 were penned, and there was a good sale at export rates of from B|d. to SSd. a lb. for firsts. Fat. sheep: 52(H) were penned. Exporters bought freely, and there was a good sale, though values were easier by fid. to a shilling a head. Best wethers made from 27/- to 32/-; prime medium weights, 23/- to 26/-; best ewes, 22/to 28/-; prime medium weights, 18/- to 21 /-.

Fat cattle: 435 head were penned, the bulk being ordinary sorts. Good steers made from £ll to £l3, and prime medium weight from £B/15/- to £lO/10/-: good heifers from £7/10/- to £9/12/6. and best cows from £7 to £B/10/-. Values per 100 lb. were from 26/- to 29/- for best beef, and from 23/- to 25/- for ordinary.

Fat pigs: There wa.s a heavier entry of porkers and an easier market, baconers selling slightly better as a result of the smaller entry and the competition of exporters. Bacons made from sd. to 5-jii. a lb., and porkers from sld. to 6d.
