Burnside Sale

By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, March 18.

A medium entry of 277 fat cattle wore forwarded at the Burnside sale, the quality generally being better. All prime cattle advanced 10/-, but there was no appreciation for light and inferior sorts. The yarding of store cattle totalled 309, venlens being in over-supply, and price* were down by about 10/-. Of the 33 dairy cows forwarded, only a few were good young sorts, nnd values were much below recent parity, the highest price being £7, while older cows were not in demand. A small entry of 1009 fat sheep of poor quality generally was forwarded. The sale opened keenly, both for prime wethers and ewes, nnd remained firm throughout at values about 2/- in advance of previous sales. Only 632 fat lambs ■ were forwarded, but the quality was good, and butchers sought keenly after heavyweights, while exporters oper.ated freely on other grades. Baconers and porkers were in equal proportions in a yarding of 133 fat pigs. The sale opened firm, with values on r. par with last week. Good baconers brought up to £3/17/-, and best porkers realised £2/15/-. The yarding of store pigs numbered 185, and though they were not keenly sought, best realised an advance of 2/-, with sucker values unchanged.
