HARBOUR SWIM

University Club Race

The University Swimming Club held its annual harbour race this week, ihe course, which was the same as last year, was from the Star Boating Clubs quarters to the Queen’s Wharf and back, a distance of approximately half a mile. There was a strong wind blowing, and the water was very choppy, but, despite the bad condition:: prevailing, there was a large number of competitors, and the finish was closely contested. The results were: —Miss A. Morris, 1; F. King, -, I. Carlyon 3. F. King made the fastest time, 12m in. lOsec. The club has been very active this season. A special feature has been the weekly club nights, held every Wednesday lit Thorndon baths. _ The increase iu membership is indicative of the interest taken in swimming by university students.
