New Zealand Tourney Opens On Hutt Links COURSE RECORD TO SHAW Brilliant form was shown by A. J. Shaw, Wellington, at the annual tournament of the New Zealand Professional Golfers’ Association, which opened on the Hutt links yesterday in perfect weather. In the Silver King Medal Handicap, played in the afternoon, Shaw did a OS, thus reducing by two strokes the course record established by the amateur J. Black, in 1932. Shaw’s card was as follows: — 443435445—3 G 323445344—32 68 The Dunlop Bogey Handicap resulted in a win for J. G. Watt, Belmont, 2 up. J. W. Ross, Hanmer Springs; C. C. Clements, Russley; and N. Fuller, Wellington, tied for second place, each being 1 down. Shaw was 2 down. J. G. Watt's card was as follows:— 443443465—37 324445455—30 73 J. Watt was runner-up to Shaw in the Silver King Medal Handicap, the detailed results of which are as follow: Shaw 68 J. Watt 71 W. Allbon 72 J. A. Clements 73
Further handicaps will be played today, when the first round of the professional championship, over 72 holes, will commence in the morning.
