A Sydney cable on February 23 stated that the promoter of the Sportsground boxing contests, Mr. Charles Lucas, had cabled Barney Ross, world welterweig.it champion, agreeing to Ins terms of £BOOO for a title fight against Jack Carroll at Sydney next summer. PROMOTER’S STATEMENT (Received March 5, 8.55 p.m.) Sydney, March 5. Mr. referring to today's Chicago cable, said he had been corresponding with Ross concerning a title fight with Jack Carroll. . He had agreed to Ross’s terms, which were not quite the same as mentioned in the cable, but were approximately that sum.
