To be Closed to Public on Saturday As a result of the sale of the Wlhtmore Street property of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, the public art gallery ou that, site will lx? permanently closed to the public from next Saturday. The purchaser of the property will take ],>ssession toward the end of this month, and as there is much work to be done in preparing and packing the pictures before moving them to the new quarters in the Dominion Museum and Art Gallery on Mount Cook, it has been'found necessary to close the gallery before the academy has to vacate the premises. The proceeds of the sale of the old art gallery and site are being handed to the Board of Trustees of the National Art Gallery and Dominion Museum as part of the academy’s contribution toward the cost of the erection of the new buildings. .Adequate accommodation has been provided for the academy to continue its activities in the new gallery.
