MR. N. r S. FALLA RETURNS

Visit To Australia The managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., Mr. N. S. Falla, returned yesterday by the Wanganella from a business visit to Australia.

When approached by “The Dominion” yesterday for an interview Mr. Falla said he was not at present in a position to discuss problems such as the proposed subsidy for British shipping as a measure for its protection against State subsidised foreign competition.

Mr. Falla said also that he was not able to comment at the moment on the statement which emanated concurrently from London and Canada to the effect that, the San Francisco-Wellington and the Vancouver-Auckland mail ship services would have to be discontinued unless some form of subsidy or other assistance were granted to aid the British lines operating these services.
