RIVER EROSION

Conference of Local Bodies

A letter was .received by the Petone Borough Council last night from the New Zealand Forestry League stating that it proposed to convene a conference of local bodies to discuss the felling, of bush on Maymorn Estate, particularly with regard to erosion in the Hutt Valley. The league stated that the conference would not involve any expense or commitment beyond au expression of views on the need of maintaining the forest on the upper reaches of the rivers. The appointment pf a delegate or delegates was requested. The Mayor, Mr. A. Scholefield, and Cr. G. London" were appointed delegates.
