KILMISTER AND CASE IN FORM

. The Colonies won the Speedway rubber when they defeated England in the second Test by 32 points to 16, at the Kilbirnie Stadium last evening. It was a decisive victory for the combined team, who showed definite superiority over the English riders. The New Zealand champion, AV. Kilmister, returned to his best form and rode brilliantly. Kilmister and D. Case, Australia,. were top-scorers with 11 points each. The Australian pair, I). Case and L. Van Praag, were also riding with great dash, and gave high-class exhibitions. The Englishmen, although they rode well, were not quite fast enough, the best on the night being B. Harrison, who was top-scorer for his side with 6 points. The February Handicap for local riders was won by E. Naylor,,off 8 seconds, with H. Mangham in second place. Naylor was also first home' in the consolation race. H. Mangham maintained his consistent. form to notch ah' easy win in the scratch event from P. Phillips. In the second heat of this race T. Young fell rather heavily at the south bend, but was uninjured; - ■ , L. Van Praag made an attempt on E. Langton's mile track record of 75 2-ssec. during the evening, but after covering two laps in fast time, machine trouble prevented him from completing the distance. The attendance was fair, and the weather conditions were good for fast racing. The'track was in a bumpy condition at the south corner, where a number of the riders came to grief. liesuits are as follows— _ Second Test, England versus the Colonies ; eight races of four laps each: clutch starts. Kilmister (captain) and J- Hobson, New Zealand; D. Case and L. Van Praag (Australia). First race: AV. Kilmister 1, L. Van Praag 2. B. Harrison 3, E. Langton 4. Time, 77 4-5. Points, Colonies 5, England 1. From a good start Kilmister came out of the first bend with a decisive lead, and maintained it throughout. Van Praag held off Harrison by 10 yards. Langton was never ifi the picture. Second race: D. Case 1, B. Clibbert 2, S. Greatrex 3. Time. 80. Points, Colonies 8, England 4. Case had no trouble •in winning by JOyds.. Clibbert made every effort over the last lap, but was not fast enough. Hobson dropped out in the second lap; Third race: D. Case 1, B. Harrison 2, E. Langton 3. Time, 81 2-5. Points, Colonies 11, England 7. From number one position Case shot to the front and was never headed, despite strenuous efforts by Harrison and Langton. Hobson fell in the third lap. Fourth race: L. Van Praag 1, W. Kilmister 2, S. Greatrex 3. Time, 80 3-5. Points, Colonies 16, England 8. The Colonies outclassed the English pair from the start. Van Praag, who was riding with all his previous dash, held his teammate off by 10yds. Greatrex was a poor third. Fifth race: W. Kilmister 1, E. Langton 2. B. Clibbert 3, J. Hobson 4. Time, 79 2-5. Points, Colonies 10, England 11. Langton held a slender lead for, the first lap, but with a beautiful slide the Colonies’ captain cut in at the north bend of the second lap and went on to win by a good margin. It was an excellent performance by Kilmister, who has definitely returned to his best' form. Sixth race: L. Van Praag, 1; D. Case, 2; B. Harrison, 3; S. Greatrex, 4. Time, 79 3-5. Colonies, 24 points; England, 12 points. This contest resolved itself, into a great duel between the Australian pair. They simply outclassed the Englishmen from the start, and rode shoulder to shoulder all the way, A’an Praag finishing with a few yards to spare when Case’s machine failed at the last bend.

Seventh race: AV. Kilmister, 1; B. Harrison, 2; S. Greatrex, 3; J. Hobson, 4. Time, 82. Colonies, 27 points; England, 15 points. Kilmister all the way. Riding brilliantly, the New Zealand champion gave the others no chance, and won easily. Eighth race: D. Case, 1; L. Van Praag, 2; B. Clibbert, 3, Time, 81. Colonies; 32 points; England 16. Case jumped away nt the start and was never headed. Van Praag took things easy to hold off Clibbert by a good margin. February Handicap, for loeal riders; four laps; push starts. First heat: E. Naylor made the m° s t of his handicap and led all the way to hold Mangham off by 15 yards. Three Lap Dash.

Maugham led from the first turn and maintained his lead to win by a handy margin from Phillips. The other starters, Appleyard and Tolley, both fell. Tolley remounted to finish the course.
