House of Commons Address

Rugby, February 4.
When the House of • Commons reassembled this afternoon the Treasurer of the Royal Household appeared at the Bar with the King’s reply to the House of Commons address©)! condolence and congratulation.
In his reply his Majesty said: “I have received with true satisfaction,the loyal and affectionate address the House has presented tome at the grievous loss I have sustained and on my accession to the Throne. I thaijk you for the expression of your loyal attachmelit to my person.. You may be assured that the first object of my life will be to maintain the liberties of my people and to promote the welfare of all classes of my subjects. I pray that by the blessing of Almighty God I may justify your trust throughout my reign.”

King’s Verbal Acknowledgment
London, February 4.
It was revealed in the House of Commons that after the presentation of Parliament’s’ Address to his Majesty oi: January 27, the King made an extern, pore addition to his reply. “The formality of this occasion,” he said, “is somewhat lessened by the pre-' sence of so many familiar faces. You have all serVed my father and different Governments during his great reign. The sight of old friends bringing me this address gives me encouragement and confidence for the future.”
