Good Sport Experienced
Good sport is being experienced by the deep-sea fishermen this season at North Auckland and the Bay of Plenty A great black marlin, 7101 b. in weight, was landed at Whangaroa by Mr. Walter J. Bowyer, of Otorohanga, who was fishing from the launch Wanderer, after four hours’ battle. The first swordfish of the season to be caught in the waters off Mayor Island, Bay of Plenty, was secured by Mr. A. Purser. The fish was a striped marlin weighing 2601 b. Mr. Purser wins the prize given by Mr. A. Kohn, of Auckland, for the first swordfish caught in Mayor Island waters. The fish was got in in time to be displayed at the Mount to many visi tors from New Plymouth, who arrived by an excursion train.
