N.Z. Health Stamps
Sir, —In to-day’s isue of your paper I notice a letter from a lady claiming to be the sponsor and founder of the New Zealand Health Stamp. Would it be possible for you to obtain authentic information regarding this matter? - In the December issue of “Home and Country,” the Women’s Institute journal, a photograph appears of Mrs. Hans Nielsen, Norsewood, who was president of the local institute for ten years. It is also stated that Mrs. Nielsen was the originator of the Health Stamp’ scheme, as she urged upon the New Zealand Government the adoption of a scheme similar to that carried out with such signal success in Denmark.
From previous information published in daily papers throughout the Dominion I was under the impression that the Health Stamp originated in Denmark, not in Victoria, Australia, as your correspondent states. I will be the first to concede that the honour of being the founder and sponsor should be hers if such is really the case.—l am. etc'., W.I. MEMBER.
