The slow bowlers had the better of the batsmen throughout. To the Orange Free State’s score of 88 on Saturday, the Australian team replied with 361 for four wickets, and declared their first innings closed. In their second innings Orange Free State made 127. Viljoen, batting patiently, held up his end for a long time, but ■ eventually he hit out, rashly. He miss-hit a spinning ball from Grimmett, and Oldfield did the rest. Continuing their first innings against the Cricket Club of India, Mr. F. Tarrant’s team of Australian cricketers scored 268 in their first innings (Bryant 42, Love 33, Morrisby 30, Ryder 47, Hendry 45). Bowling for the Cricket Club of India, Amarsingh took five wickets for 91 runs and Amarnath three for 44. The Cricket Club of India made 167 in their first innings, ami when stumps were drawn to-day had lost six wickets for 81 runs in their second innings.
