New Zealand Titles

The success of the North Island croquet championship tourney, which has now concluded, ranks second to none among those held by the New Zealand Croquet Council. Unfortunately, the weather interfered with the progress of play to a certain extent, but, notwithstanding the large number of entries, the games were got through it, record time. The winners arc as follow :— . Open singles: A. G. Hoss (South Island) ; runner-up. A. J. Gibbs (Patea). Women's championship: Mrs. Watkins (Hastings) ; runner-up, Mrs. Gambrill (Palmerston North). Open doubles championship: 11. P. Stratton (Hastings) and Mrs. Watkins (Hastings); runner-up, A. G. Ross (South Island) and Mrs. Tiffen (Hastings). Handicap doubles: A. G. Ross (.South Island) and !■’. Bennett: runner-up, Mrs. Poppelwell. Handicap singles: ||. p. Slralton; runner-up, Mrs. Culdow (Wellington). Section II: Mrs. Bennett: runnerup, Mrs. Grindley.
