RETURN OF COLONIES

Germany Will One Day

Make Demand

SPEECH BY DR. GOEBBELS

By Telegraph.—Press Assn. — < 'op.vrlgbt. (Received January 19, 6.30 p.m.) Berlin, January IS. “Tlie time will come when Germany must, demand her colonies back,” declared Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, addressing 20,000 Berlin Nazis. He added that Germany could nor continue to live as a poor country while the rest of the world rolled in wealth. “We are beggars. We have no colonies and no raw materials.” he said. “We are confronted with difficulties which cannot be overcome by internal methods. Others don’t need the colonies they have taken from us It is dangerous for the world not to concede such demands, because some day the bomb will explode.”

Dr. Goebbels added: "There are moments when one has to take the sword and cut the knot. We don’t waut to interfere in the conflict between Britain and Abyssinia on the one hand and Italy on the other, but Germany is learning a lesson from the situation, namely, that a nation without power cannot preserve peace and that we cannot rely on the League.” Dr. Goebbels concluded by saying: We must become a nation of martyrs because we have certain.tasks to fulfil in the world.
