WEDDINGS
Findlay—Wilson St. Patrick’s Church, Palmerston North, was the scene of an early evening wedding on December 27, when Joyce Gabriel, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. IL Wilson, Featherston Street, was married to Ronald Cooper, son of Mrs. Findlay and the'late Mr. J. P. Findlay, Waipukurau. The church was tastefully deeorated for the occasion. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Monsignor McManus, Miss C. Bartleet supplying the music. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a frock of magnolia self-striped satin romaine. The corsage had a cape collar made witli cowl effect and edged witli knife pleating. The frock had a sash caught from the sides, the skirt merging into a train. The bride wore an amethyst pendant circled with jwarls, which had been worn by her mother, and also a sprig of white heather from the Orkney Islands. A veil of honiton silk lace was held in place with a half-circlet of orange blossom and formed a long train. Misses Myra and Phyllis 'Wilson, sisters of the bride, were the bridesmaids and the best man was Mr. J. Findlay and Mr. R. Findlay groomsman.
When Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Findlay left after the reception the latter wore a navy blue torpedo crepe ensemble with accessories to tone.
Goodall—Sowman
Tlie wedding, was recently solemnised at tlie Lower Hutt Methodist Church, of Betty Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Sowman, and Arthur James, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Goodall. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of silk inarocaiu and lace, with a tulle embroidered veil, her bouquet being of roses and Christmas lilies. The bridesmaids were Misses J. Parker and M. Sowman. wearing respectively frocks of apricot and green wind-swept crepe and hats to tone, their bouquets being of pink sweet peas.
Mr. J. Goodall, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. R. Goodall. groomsman. The Rev. H. Sharp performed Hie ceremony. A reception was afterward held at Wesley Hall, where Mr. and Mrs. Sowman received the guests, the latter wearing a navy blue floral silk frock with swagger coat, and navy blue hat. Her posy was of carnations. Mrs. Goodall wore a lido blue maroeaiu frock with swagger, coat and hat to match, and carried a posy of earna tions. Mrs. A. J. Sowtnan travelled in a brown tailored suit with halo hat, and accessories to tone.
Tuekett —Reardon
The marriage of Ena Janetta, only daughter of Mrs. C. E. Reardon. Parkville, to Aaron James, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Tuekett, Masterton, was solemnised at the Anglican Church, Eketaliuna. on Wednesday evening last. The Rev. H. Wilson, Pahiatua, officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. C. H. Reardon, wore a gown of lustrous oyster pearl satin with lace yoke, long sleeves and long sweeping train. She also wore an embroidered veil with a halo of orange blossom, and satin shoes. A sheaf of Madonna lilies, witli satin streamers, was carried.
The bridesmaids were Misses D. Sibbald (chief) and K. Herbert, who wore crimson ninon witli cowl necks, long shirred sleeves and trains. They also wore crimson panne velvet toques and shoes to tone, and they carried white prayer books. Tlie duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Messrs. H George and K. Marenzi, respectively. Messrs. G. F. Tagg and W. McGill were Hie ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Eketahuna. where over 100 guests were received.
