Taranaki Wants Championships
To allow delegates an opportunity to hear Sir Sigrrid Edstrom, president of the International Amateur Athletic Association, who spoke in the Concert Chamber of the Wellington Town Hall last evening, the meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was very brief. A letter was received from the Taranaki centre advising that it proposed to make application for tlie 1937 senior national championships. Attention was drawn to the excellent open watercourse New Plymouth provided for tlie Kellerman Cup .competition. The centre bad never as yet had the championships, but was sure it could provide what was necessary in the shape of baths and accommodation. Tlie Otago centre wrote asking for the names of : any Wellington delegate- - willing to act as officials at the New Zealand national swimming chanip'onsliips at Dunedin, commencing on February 15. A comprehensive list, of entertainments to l>e provided for competitors at the championships was enclosed.
If was decided that tlie polo committee should arrange teams to represent. Wellington against teams from 11.M.5. Wellington, tlie games to be played on Friday. January 24, and Monday. January 27, at 5.45 p.m. The Hutt chili was granted February 11 for the holding of the Nash Cup.
