GERMAN CHURCHES BREAK SILENCE
Denunciation of Nazi Persecution (Received January 13, 8.25 p.m.) Berlin, January 13. After a long silence Protestant pastors and Roman Catholic priests vigorously denounce the Nazi persecution. They are issuing a manifesto from hundreds of pulpits defying efforts to turn tlie Evangelical Church into a branch of the Nazi Party. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Berlin requires his flock to repudiate the Nazi theory or blood and iron.
