PATTERN SERVICE

Readers of the “Australian Woman’s Mirror’’ will be interested in a special pattern service which has been established by the New Zealand agent of the paper, the pattern service depot being at Saywell Buildings, 115 Lambton Quay. Here all the latest patterns and transfers are available. Country applications will be dealt with by post.

Agnes Samson to-day is showing the very first of her Autumn collection comprising colourful tweeds, the smartest ensembles, glamorous evening frocks, hats in all the new styles—jaunty Tyroleans with their high-point-ed crowns stuck through with a bright feather, swathed toques heightened with a dashing wing or plume halo hats in great variety. One halo hat I saw was of a lovely wine velour, the bandeau covered with a flat feather mount in bright shades, including blue. This is meant to accompany a lovely wine ensemble of a soft woollen material. The frock, simple in line, lias touches of a slate,v French blue and the neck is handsomely finished with a heavy blue cord having thick club ends. The coat, full length, has a beautiful pull-through scarf collar of grey Persian lamb, and the bell sleeves have a couple of big tucks to accentuate their width. One of the delightful new tweeds, beige and white check with a large overcheck of brown, blue, green and gold, makes the smartest little suit with a wide brown leather belt and brown leather triangular buttons. A Glengarry cap of the same material completes the ensemble A black evening frock in matt crepe shows the new Grecian line, a slim silhouette with classic draping. Much fullness is gathered and drawn up to a knot below the waistline. The belt is fastened with a beautiful brilliant buckle and the drapery of the bodice is caught either side of the neck with a handsome brilliant clip. The back is cut very low in a deep V—a very captivating model from a delightful collection. Agnes Samson, Lamb-, ton Quay.—Advt.
