AUCKLAND’S NEW TUG

The Auckland Harbour Board's new lug, William C. Daldy, aud the voyage from Scotland arc described in a -letter by the first mate, Mr. Colin Branch. Mr. Branch is full of praise for the new vessel. The William C. Daldy. Mr. Branch writes, is being delivered to the Auckland Harbour Board by Messrs. Redder and Mylchreest. a ship delivery firm of London. This firm is stated to do a great deal of work of this kind. When tlie late Sir Thomas Lipton raced the Shamrock for the America’s Cup the firm used to deliver the yacht to New York and- bring her back to England again after the race. The tug. Mr. Branch continues, was iu Aden at. the same time as lI.M S. Diomede aud members of the crew were sent a box of books from the warship. From Colombo the William C. Daldy would coubinuc her voyage to Auckland via Batavia ami Townsville“After we finish polishing and painting this tug will look more like a yacht on arrival at Auckland,” he writes. The William C. Daldy is under the command of Captain .1. S. Corfe, who wasformerly In the service of Ohe Blue Funnel Line from Liverpool to China and Japan. With him are two mates, three engineers, a cook, four firemen and four sailors. The chief engineer will remain on the vessel for 1 six months after its arrival but the rest: of tlie crew will sign off on reaching Auckland.
The Auckland Harbour Board anticipates that the tug will arrive here toward (he end of this month.
