With no sale for the next three weeks, buyers were faced with the necessity of acquiring supplies for the holiday period, and there was a comparatively strong demand, the only weakness being in the beef section. About 1200 head of cattle were offered, and the yarding included a number of very prime lines though the general average was not high. In the ox beef market, in spite of a healthy demand, prices eased by 15/- to 20/-. n head, with extra choice beef quoted 2/- lower at 32/- per 1001 b. Bullocks declined most heavily, buyers tending to concentrate on other classes. Cows and heifers were plentiful, with a fair proportion of dairy sorts. The heaviest yarding of sheep for a number of years comprised about 5000 head. The quality was good, and a satisfactory sale resulted, although prices receded for all classes.
