GREEK DISTURBANCES
Restoration of Monarchy
Possible
(Received September 30, 10.45 p.m.)
Athens, September 30.
Two hundred Republicans were injured, 50 seriously, when a troop of cavalrymen charged following disturbances at Salonica. Many jumped into the sea to avoid the cavalrymen’s sweeping swords.
■ Republicans accuse the Government of victimisation in breaking up propaganda meetings, while Monarchists are urging M. Tsaldaris. the Premier, to restore the King without a plebiscite.
Though M. Tsaldaris is hesitating over an immediate constitutional restoration of the monarchy without a plebiscite, Government circles believe this is possible, in consequence of which 22 members of the popular party, hitherto supporters of M. Tsaldaris, have gone over to the Republican side.
