Reeves Defeats Brander

H. Reeves, of Mastertou (lOst. 91b.), beat Les Brander, of New South Wales (list. 121 b.), on points in a 15 rounds professional boxing contest this evening. Brander outboxed Reeves for four or five rounds, but thereafter spoilt the contest with incessant) holding of his opponent, whose ruggedness and harder hitting prevailed.

Iu an exciting and even contest tonight Don Stirling regained from N. Mudgway the professional welterweight title of New Zealand, winning ou points in a bout of 15 rounds. Mudgway led on points up to the ninth round, when Stirling landed heavy blows to the head and nearly won by a knockout. Mudgway hung on and recovered sufficiently to take some share of the boxing in the last two rounds.

Mudgway was the cleverer boxer, but had no effective blow against a rugged and fit opponent. '
