By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, September 30.
Iu an exciting and even contest tonight Don Stirling regained from N. Mudgway the professional welterweight title of New Zealand, winning ou points in a bout of 15 rounds. Mudgway led on points up to the ninth round, when Stirling landed heavy blows to the head and nearly won by a knockout. Mudgway hung on and recovered sufficiently to take some share of the boxing in the last two rounds.
