Capitalisation of Reserves The Melbourne Stock Exchange has been informed by the Castlemaine Brewery Company, Melbourne, Ltd., the Shamrock Brewing and Malting Company (Collingwood). Ltd., and the Foster Brewing Company, Ltd., that a revaluation of each company’s assets is in progress, and that a capitalisation of reserves is contemplated. In the case of the Castlemaine Brewery Company, this may result in the issue of one new share for every two now held, in the case of the Shamrock Brewing Company of four new shares for every five now held, and in the case of the Foster Brewing Company of. one share lor each share now held. The Castlemaine Brewery Company also proposes to reduce the value of each share from 17/6 to 15/- by a'cash payment of 2/6 per share. Australian Price of Gold The price fixed by the Commonwealth Bank for gold, including jewellery, lodged at the Melbourne Mint for the week ended .September 20. was at the rate of approximately £B/0/1 per standard ounce _(22 carats), equal to a premium of 105.60. Payment is made according to the assay value of gold. The price was 1/2 J higher on the week. The price per ounce fine was £B/14/8, being a rise of 1/4 on the week.
