The Department of Agriculture has received the i'olowing cablegram, dated September 28. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow: Market firm : quotations slightly higher. . Hemp: Manila again dearer; market closed strong. “K” grade for October-De-cember shipments sold up to £26. Sisal. Market continues firm. Mexican prices have advanced to £26/5/6; London parity on basis c.i.f. European and African No. 1 for October-December shipments valued at £25/5/-. January-March shipments sold up to £25/15/-. New Zealand: Value nominally higher in sympathy on tlm basis of fair. £lB to £lB 10/-.' No lirst-linnd sales reported owing Io absence of offers. Eggs: Market steady, values about unchanged. First small arrival of South African sold at from 10/6 to 12/6. Apples: Market bus declined. Canadian and American arrivals are heavy. Californian Gravenstein, 8/6 to 11/-; Jonathan. 10/6 to 11/-. Pears: Only moderate demand: prices lower. Californian Bartlett, 9/6 to 12/6. , Peas: Maples—Market has declined: fair business done in New Zealand and Tasmania. No. 1 New Zealand for Sep-tember-November shipments sold nt from 53/6 to 54/3: November-December shipments at 54/-. “A” grade Tasmanian for Septemher-Cjetnber shipments sold at from 53/6 to 54/-. English: Steady demand: values about unchanged. Blues; Fair demand: Japanese and Dutch, at better price. Tasmanian shippers’ prices outranged. Small business bus been done on spot unchanged. Prices. £lO/15/to £ll ex wharves. London September 28. Australian canned fruits, peaches, pears and apricots have been selling well. Sales for the season exceeded 1.000.000 cases. Wholesale traders would like more.
