Japanese Entertained at

Timaru By Telegraph.—Tress Association. Tiinam, August 30. The members of the Japanese goodwill mission arrived at Timaru from the south to-day and were the guests at luncheon of tho Chamber of Commerce. A welcome was extended by the president, Mr. G. Andrews, supported bv Sir Alexander Young. Mr. Kateuji Debuchi, responding, reiterated points relevant to the relations between Japan and New Zealand as emphasised in other centres. At t>he conclusion of the ceremony, Mr. Debuchi planted a Japanese flowering cherry tree in the new scenic reserve in memory of the visit, and Sir Alexander Young planted a kowhai. Mr. Debuchi was also presented by the Mayor with a bound booklet of views ©f ,Timaru and South Centerburr.
