BRIGHT SALE AT FEILDING Dominion Special Service. Feilding, 'August 30. The stock sale to-day was very br ght with firm and hardening prices for fat ewes, which reached 20/-, a record for a long period. Outside buyers stiffened the market, which indicatid a shortage of meat for butchers. Fat wethers were firm at recent prices, but hoggets were not so good, only reaching store hogget prices. Store sheep prices also showed a hardening tendency, a splendid line of four and six-tooth breeding ewes reaching 38/-, an almost sensational figure. A very lively demand existed for both ewe and wither hoggets with a medium offering of good condition. The dairy section comprised chiefly springing he fers wi f h a general demand for quality lines, those close to profit finding a ready market. The fat cattle market was firm with butchers operating freely. Light prime ox, and heifer beef made to 27/- per 100 lb. Fat sheep: Prime hoggets, 26/-; good, 22/- to 24/-; fair, 19/- to 20/9; light, 16/1; fat ewes, specially prime woolly, 20/-; prime shorn, 18/1 to 19/6 good, 17/to 18/-; light, shorn, from 15/3; wethers, prime heavy, 25/- to 26/-; prime light, to 25/4; light, from 19/4; prime twotooths, 24/3 to 25/-. Prices at Eketahuna Eketahuna, August 30. i Weaner pigs met with a very good market at the weekly Eketahuna sale yesterday, but dairy cattle were in poor demand, the public showing Ettle interest in the offering. Sheep sold at late rates. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., submitted a good yarding of dairy cattle and pigs, together with a few pens of sheep, to a good attendance of buyers, making the following realisations :— Pigs: Store pigs, 27/-; weaners, 19/-, 19/6, to 20/-. Sheep: Fat wethers, 23/-; fat ewes, .16/9; empty 2. 4 and 6-tooth, 19/-. Cattle: Heifers on drop. £2. £2/5-/, £2 17/6, £3, to £3/5/-; cows, on drop. £2 12/6, £3, £3/15/-, to £4; store cows, £l. Levin Sale At Levin on Tuesday the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., offered a small entry of sheep, with medium yardings of cattle and pigs, the following prices being obtained : —Prime heavy ewes, 20/-; medium fat cows, £2/10/-, £3, £3/10/-, £4, to £4/17/-; forward condition do., 30/- to 37/-; store cows, 15/- to 25/-; dairy cows, £3 to £3/15/-; bull. £2/17/6; porkers, 31/- to 45/-; store pigs, 15/- to 20/6 and up to 28/- for extra good; weanere, 10/- to 14/-. Prior to the commencement of the sale the company offered a special entry of horses. These consisted of medium to heavy aged draughts, which met with good corppetition, and realised the following prices:—Mares £27, £36. £36/10/-, £37,. £45; geldings, £33, £34, £35. Carterton Values Carterton, August 30. Good cows on drop sol(l well ut the weekly Carterton sale to-day, but late calvers met a dragging market. Fat cows made good values, while cows in terward condition were keenly sought. The offering of cattle included some very nice springing heifers, and these mei keen competition, the resultant prices being well up to vendors’ expectaitons. Pigs met a good market and made late rates. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., submitted a big yarding of dairy cattle and a large number of pigs, effecting practically a total clearance at the following prices:— Cattle: Three-year heifers, clooe to profit. £3/10/- to £4/17/6; good two-year heifers on drop. £3 to £4/10/-; small twoyear heifers, £2 to £2/5/-; cows on drop, G.S.. £3/5/- to £6- springing cows, £2 5/- tp £3/10/-; cows just calved, £3 to £6/2/6; later calvers. 35/- to £2/7/6; heifers just calved, to £3/12/ti; fat cows, to £4/7/6- forward cows, io £2 15/-; store eows, 10/- to 27/6; bulls, to 50/-.
