FLOODING OF HIGHWAY

Position at Whirokino

Information as to what steps were being taken to deal with the very unsatisfactory state of the main highway at Whirokino, between Letin and Foxton, as a result of the flooding of the Manawatu River was sought by Mr. J. Linklater (Govt., Manawatu) in notice of a question to the Minister of Public Works, Hon. J. Bltchener, in the House of Representatives yesterday. “This portion of the highway,’’ said Mr. Linklater, “has been flooded for eight weeks, causing a great dislocation and inconvenience to traffic, and its diversion for some 14 miles.” He asked the Minister to take immediate action to have the section of the highway concerned made safe and passable for the travelling public.
