RIFLE CLUB’S YEAR
Inferior Ammunition a Past
Disadvantage “The inferior quality of the ammunition issued by the Defence Department, with the consequent low standard of markmanship, has very materially affected the attendances at the range each Saturday, and the period of financial stress through which wt have been passing has also added to the difficulties of club officers,” states the annual report of the Wellington Rille Association bo be presented at the meeting on September 3. "It is pleasing, therefore, to reflect that with the exception of the annual prize- meeting the full programme for the season was carried through without modification.” The financial position must be considered satisfactory, the report continues. The credit balance is £l9/18/8, as against £4/5/- for the year ended July 31, 1934. In order to overcome some of the delays experienced in former years during the change-over between ranees each Satur day. the executive decided to institute shooting on one range only, following the practice now in vogue in Australia. This had th? desired effect and should how be the accepted rule. The executive is confident that with good ammunition this year the coming season will prove as successful as many enjoyed in the past.
