NEW GREEK MINISTRY

Question of Monarchy

MANY RUMOURS AT ATHENS

(Received July 21, 6.30 p.m.) Athens, July 20. Unable to induce the Premier. M. Tsahlaris, to force the Republican Ministers to resign or to depart from their attitude of neutrality concerning the forthcoming plebiscite regarding the restoration of the monarchy, the Monarchist Deputy Premier, General Kontlylis, has resigned. M. Tsahlaris has formed a new Ministry.

He has dropped all Ministers who had pronounced themselves publicly in favour of either a monarchy or a re/public except General Kondylis. whose retention is regarded as a victory for the Monarchists, although M. Tsaidaris declares that the new Ministry will remain neutral regarding the monarchy during the plebiscite period.

Meanwhile the city is buzzing with rumours of an impending Monarchist coup d'etat.
