POLICE INSPECTED

Final Jubilee Review

TEN THOUSAND ON PARADE

(Received July 21, 6.30 p.m.) Loudon, July 20.

For the final jubilee review 10.000 policemen from all parts of Britain were drawn up in Hyde Park in two lines. Hanked by mounted police and mechanised squads. The review was unique as the Sovereign had not previously inspected police. Despite showers their Majesties drove in an open landau along the blue-coated lines, in which were plainclothed Scotland Yard police headed by the chief officials in top-hats and morning coats.

Their Majesties were received with a Royal salute, those present standing at attention while the band played the National Anthem. Lord Trenehard, . Commissioner of Metropolitan Police, led three cheers for the King, after which their Majesties drove along the line and received a great ovation from 250,000 spectators. The weather misbehaved for the first time in Jubilee celebrations when a. shower accompanying the march .past forced their Majesties to retire to the shelter of the Royal pavilion. Pipers played the Scottish police past. Only Ulster was not. represented, the riots necessitating all remaining on duty.
