LOW TEMPERATURES

* Extreme Cold in Australia Sydney, June 24. The eastern States of Australia are experiencing extremely cold -weather. Wide areas are covered with snow, and in many parts of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria the temperatures have dropped to the lowest levels for years. An aeroplane which was caught in a snowstorm near Taralga crashed into a tree and was wrecked. The pilot escaped with a severe shaking. Hurricane conditions prevailed off the South Australian coast. The intense cold in southern Queensland has caused heavy losses among Stock which had been weakened by the drought.
