WELFARE WORK

Women’s Service Guild The monthly meeting of the Women’s Service Guild was held at the Lyceum Club. A full assemblage of members was presided over by Mrs. J. A. Campbell. It is reported that much valuable and constructive work was done, and personal knowledge of various cases dealt with was found very helpful. A letter of congratulation was forwarded to Sir Alfred Ransom on the honour conferred upon him. Methodist Missions Auxiliary A very enjoyable afternoon was spent recently in the Wesley Church parlour when the Taranaki Street, circuit branch of the Methodist Missions Women’s Auxiliary celebrated its sixth birthday.Mrs. Rowe presided over an attendance of nearly 70 members and friends. The room was tastefully decorated. During the. afternoon solos were rendered by Mrs. Sineock and Misses Jones and Reeves and a duet by Mesdames Gandell and Nicholson, which were all very much appreciated. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Gandell and Raine. During the afternoon tea, Mrs. Paris cut the birthday cake, which was made by Mrs. Skinner for the occasion. Mrs. Pacey, Wellington president, gave a brief talk on the organisation of the auxiliary and the need for assistance in the mission work in the Solomon Islands. The fund benefited considerably by a' “silver trail” and a bring-and-buy stall.
