Palmerston North, June 10. ' A'considerable volume of’work was dealt with by the Mauawatu-Qroua Power Board at its monthly inciting at Palmerston North this afternoon.
It was reported that 49 new consumers were linked up during the month. Eleven of the new connections were for lighting and heating and 22 for'additions to existing installations. The managing secretary, Mr. K. W, Eglinton. reported that the eale of current during the month of May brought in £4133/14/4, as compared with £4048/4/7 for tlie corresponding month of last year. This meant an increase of £B5/9/9. Collections for the month amounted to £174 6/5. The amount outstanding as at May 31 totalled £4207/6/4. A motion that a reduction of 6d. be made in the minimum charge was defeated. It was stated that there were 9775 minimum charge accoupte last year, and that a‘reduction of od. would amount to £244/7/6. The board decided to reduce the guarantee required on new lines to 15 per cent., and that where the future prospects warranted it this percentage might be reduced. It was agreed that the existing guarantees where lines hud been erected bn a 17| per cent, guarantee be reduced to 15 per cent, as from March 31, 1933.
