For three years in succession a thrush has built its nest remarkably early in the season in a garden at Kohlmarama. On the two previous occasions tlie bird chose a taupata hedge and the first year, owing to the severity of the weather, the eggs failed to hatch. Last year, in spite of unfavourable conditions, four birds were fledged. Profiting by past experience apparently, .the. bird this year lias chosen to build in a bunch of convolvulus against the most sunny 1 side of the house —an unusual position—and tlie first egg was laid recently.
