Large Number Engaged on Western Hutt Job The largest number of men since the work started —about 400—w at present engaged on the Western Hutt Road J on which good progress continues to be made. Some 150 men pre working on the new section beyond the Haywards station, .'and the rest are refining the road between Haywards and Melling. The widening of the Horokiwi Road to the top of the hill has been completed and better access is given to the farms in thlocality, but much of the road, which continues on to Newlands, is in need ot i Pa Widening aud metalling work is still going on over the Wainui Hill, which-has been vastly improved for motorists. Considerably more improvement, however, could he effected. Unemployed men are still at work at Gracefield on Crown land, and also at Normandale".
