SAFE BLOWN OPEN

Nrpicr Business Premises Entered Dominion Special Service. Hastings, April 10. Late last night or early this morning burglars succeeded in gaining entrance to the business premises of Blythe’s, Napier, by removing the glass from the louvres in an upstairs lavatory. An old safe in the general office was blown open, but the only contents were hooks and records. The thieves turned their attention to a large safe, which resisted their efforts. The cash desk in the tea rooms was tampered with, but they were apparently disturbed, as a postal note, stamps and a small sum of silver were overlooked. Nothing was stolen, though considerable damage was done to wearing apparel belonging tn the staff, which was used to deaden the explosion.
