COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
New Body Formed at Hastings Hastings. April 10. An enthusiastic meeting of townspeople was held ,in the council chambers Last night, when it was unanimously decided to form a Competitions Society. The deputy-mayor. Mr. A. I. Rainbow, presided. The following officers were elected :—President, the Rev. R. B. Gosnell; vice-nresidcnt. Mr. W. E. Bate; organiser. Mr. A. Stanley Warwick; secretary and treasurer. Mr. K. IT. Bayliss: <bmmittee. Mrs. I*'. S. Rudd. Mi e s M. Collins, Messrs. N R. C. Wilson. P. Loach. T. Fapeoner, F. E. Rivers. IT. ,T. Grieve and Ramsay. M l ’. Warwick intimated that several new classes would be catered for — Maori choirs, children’s ensemble singing and brass quartettes. The first festival will bo held next August during the school holidays. The secretary of the Nanicr Thirty Thousand Club wrote congratulating the new society on its formation and offered every assistance. The letter was received with acclamation.
