FREIGHTER SENDS SOS

Immediate Assistance Not Needed (Received April 10. 7 p.m.) New York, April 9. The British freighter Tower Bridge, formerly the Badagry, has sent an SOS, “hold filling rapidly.” Her position is about 200 miles east of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The steamers Scanstates/ Manchester Producer and Newfound are reported to be in the vicinity and proceeding to her assistance. A later message states that the Tower Bridge wirelessed that she did not need immediate assistance. She expects to reach St. John’s, Newfoundland. at noon on Wednesday.
