PAYMENT OF RATES
Central Hawke’s Bay Notes Waipukiurau, April 10, Al the monthly meeting of the Patangata County Council, held at Waipukurau yesterday, the county clerk, Mr. J. W. Elliott, reported that the payment of rates for the year ending March 31 was extremely satisfactory, tn the Eparaima. Oero. Tainumu, Pourere and Mangatarata ridings, all rates had been paid. Over the whole county 97.7 C of the rates had been received. In addition £3OOO of back rates had also been paid. Satisfaction was expressed at the splendid response of I lie ratepayers Sheep Dog I’rial Club. At the annual meeting ol the Takapau Sheep Dog Tria! Club, the balance-sheet disclosed that the past year had been most successful. Officers were elected as follow:—Patron. Mr. F. de Stacpoole; president. Mr. N. Tilley; chief steward, Mr. L. Manson; flag steward, Mr. C. J. Smith; timekeepers. Messrs. C. J. Campion and 11. Hobson A programme was drawn up for the annual trials, which are to be held.in about six weeks' time Police Tmnsfers.
After being stationed al Porangahau for many years. Constable 11. Moss lia< be.en transferred to Waipawa. Constable Grainger, of Wnipawa, lias been promoted to Auckland as sergeant.
