UNEMPLOYED EX-SOLDIERS
Kairanga County Grant Palmerston North, April f. The Kairanga County Council at its meeting this morning received a request from the Palmerston North branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association for a grant to assist in the payment of unemployed returned soldiers for work done. ■The association pointed out that the Palmerston North Ci£y Council had provided £250 foi this purpose last year. It was requested that the county should make provision of the payment of a subsidy when its estimates , were being framed The county clerk. Mr. N. 1. Nielsen said. the county had received £216/16/from the R.S.A. last year as additional wages for unemployed returned soldiers working for the council. The (council agreed to recommend ,lm incoming council to make provision on the estimates next year fo>' a grant to the association.
