Clubs Hold Closing Ceremonies
COMPETITION WINNERS
(By Penultimate.) On Saturday last the Wellington Club entertained its champions and also those members who had won honours outside the club. Mrs. Ramsay, president, congratulated the visitors, and also the intermediate inter-club players who had ■won the intermediate shield. Competitions were held during the afternoon, and the following were the prize winners: — Peg, Airs. Ashton; angles, Airs. Priddle; golf. Airs. Billing. Lecture ttc. Airs. W. E. Caldow visited the Karori lawns on Tuesday and gave an interesting talk on croquet in Australia, and also demonstrated various shots. Airs. Caldow and Air, G. Hart, Timaru, gave an exhibition game which was watched by a large number of visitors. Wellington Association. The closing function in connection with the Wellington Croquet Association is to take place on Wednesday, Alay 1, in the Elm tearoom, Willis street, at 3 p.m., when the shields and trophies will be presented to the successful competitors. Seatoun Club. The Seatoun Croquet Club is fortunate in being able to play until after Easter. Closing day is arranged for Wednesday, April 24, and the usual dance will be held in the evening. Karori Club. The members of Karori Club arranged a sports day on Saturday last and a most enjoyable time was spent on the lawns Half-hour games were played in the morning, and competitions in the afternoon. The winners'of the half-hour games were Airs. Flint and Airs. Stewart; runner-up Airs. Howe. Peg, Airs. Franklin; angles, Airs. Tucker; to and fro, Airs. Gibbons; ladder, Mrs. Harper; French. Airs. AlcGowan; break, Mrs. Keeunn; golf, Mrs. F. Dryden; take off. Airs. Butcher. Island Bay. The official closing of the Island Bay club took place on Saturday last. In the absence of Airs. Kavanagh, president, who was away on holiday, the trophies were presented by Airs. Winchcomb, vicepresident. The following is a list of prize

Mrs. O’Brien; trail. Airs. Shoreland; peg, Airs.'Dempsey. Kelbuni Club. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Kelburn lawns on Saturday, when the official closing took place. Hart (Timaru) spent two days in l\ r ellington this week on his way home, after taking part in the tournament at Te Arolia. Airs. P. Billing. Wellington, has- returned home after a holiday in Timaru. Mrs. Rhodes AA’illiams is visiting her sister in Palmerston North, and will be staying until after Easter. Airs, Bassett, Alasterton. has returned after spending a fortnight in Hamilton.
Airs. Small, Island Bay. has left on a six months’ trip to the East, ami will visit Japan and America. -Airs. A 7 ickery, Island Bay, has left on a world tour, ami expects to be away about two years.
