SHOW PREPARATIONS
Horticulture in Wellington A meeting of the general committee of the Wellington Horticultural Society was held on Tuesday evening, when there was a record attendance of members. Mrs. Knox Gilmer was in the 'fhair. Motions of condolence with the relatives of Messrs. G. Jeffery, A. D. Crawford and Rev. W. Bramwell Scott were passed. Mr. Jeffery was a life member of the society, and one of its original officers. He was also a member of the Rose and Carnation Society and a keen exhibitor and judge. Mr. Crawford was one of the society’s oldest members and exhibitors and also patron of the Miramar society. The Rev. Bramwell Scott was keenly interested in all horticultural matters. It was reported that a conference with the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society on the question of show dates for the coming season had been held on April 2, when the following dates were agreed upon:—Spring show, Hutt Valley, September 18 and 19; Wellington, September 25. Rose show, Hutt Valley, November 13; Wellington, November 20. Autumn show, Hutt Valley, April 15 and 16; Wellington, April 22. Arrangements in connection with the autumn show' on April 24 were finalised and prospects were reported to be excellent.
